PRP/Cellular Therapy Pre-Procedure Instructions

Hydrate, drink plenty of water day before and day of procedure to ensure adequate blood volume for blood draw.

Wear clothing to allow ease of access to injection sites.

Hold NSAIDS 3 days prior to appointment:

Motrin (ibuprofen), Aleve (Naproxen), Mobic (Meloxicam), Celebrex (Celecoxib), Voltaren (Diclofenac), and Bayer (Aspirin). PRP causes inflammatory response, which is part of the healing process, we do not want anti-inflammatories to hinder this process.

You can take Acetaminophen/Tylenol for discomfort.

Hold anti-coagulants accordingly. You will be given specific instructions prior. Your prescribing provider will be contacted to inform of need to hold and a written clearance letter requested per guidelines.

Eat healthy week prior to ensure abundant platelet rich plasma. Foods to help increase platelet count includes leafy greens, salmon, berries, tuna, tomatoes, oranges, kiwis, foods that contain omega-3 fatty acid.

Try to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep per night.

Avoid excessive amounts of caffeine such as soda, coffee, tea the day of procedure.

Avoid plasma donations or any therapeutic phlebotomy for at least 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after procedure.
** Please have accommodations for children as they will not be allowed in procedure room. Most of our injections require fluoroscopy, and we do not want them exposed to radiation.
Reasons to reschedule:
• Fever
• Feeling ill
• Recently placed on steroids or antibiotics
